This is a Hamsa , Hamesh or Hand of Fatima. It is an apotropic amulet of protection . It is believed to protect one from the envious and/or the evil eye. The word Hamsa means 5, refers to the digits of the hand. I thought it was a very nice amulet that needed to beContinue reading ““Hamsa” protection”

First Friday
Doug and I just got back from the First Friday opening at the Bear Gallery. What a great show. Lots of talented people in the Fairbanks area. I tried to get Doug to stand beside his art for a picture. That did not happen. I am very glad I got him to put some of his penContinue reading “First Friday”
Blue Goddess is finished.
I completed this last week…forgot to take pictures and post. She sure is Blue! Trying to come up with my next project….
What is she beading now?
I wanted to work with Blue. Don’t know why, it is not what I consider one of my favorite colors. I like “Spirit Dolls” & “Fairies” so, I have combined the two. This should be interesting.
How I did at the Art Show
Great turn out. They had 185 entries, narrowed that down to 55 for the show. I feel very lucky to have 2 pieces showing. “Sugar Skull” received Honorable Mention! Here is a pic of it. Did not post about it before as it is/was a surprise birthday gift for a special friend. Here a fewContinue reading “How I did at the Art Show”

I feel great just knowing I have two pieces accepted. If you live in the area please stop by for First Friday. It is in the BearContinue reading “Interior Artisans Juried Art Show”
Beading, beading, beading.
The neck was a pain to get done! I was trying to make it look as if the viewer was seeing it from an angle…. this will have to do. I changed the dress also, instead of one shade of turquoise I am using a mix of three. It helps add texture. Still thinking aboutContinue reading “Beading, beading, beading.”
Kachina update
This is going to be more detailed than first planned. I resisted using anything smaller than 11’s until I got to the blade. It just needed more detail, so I dug out these tiny bugles…not sure of their size. Pic has a few 11’s for comparison. Guess I will be getting out the 18’s andContinue reading “Kachina update”
The MASK is finished!
I think I really like this one. I usually work in earth tones, but this project needed bright, happy beads. What do you think? Here is my backyard snowshoe hare. Thanks for looking, have a great week-end!
The Mask, so far…
This is turning out ok. So far I am happy with it. Still trying to figure out how I will get the bridge of the nose done?
The Mask
I have started beading a mask ! Not sure where I am going with this, but it should be interesting. I will keep posting my progress.
