Getting ready for summer. I will be one of the Artists in Cabin 13 again this summer. This is a small cabin in Pioneer Park, a lovely tourist stop in Fairbanks. The cabin is sponsored by Fairbanks Arts Association, artists bring in their work and man the cabin one day a week. It is a fun way to show/sell your art and meet new people. I will be there on Mondays all this summer, stop in and say “Hello.”
A sure sign of spring in Fairbanks is the arrival of the swans , geese and ducks. The field was plowed and seeded last week, just in time for the first visitors. They came in about 10 days early this year! I took lots of pictures, here are a few.
What a great evening. We attended the Interior Artisans 30th Annual Juried Show at the Bear Gallery tonight. The guest juror was Don Decker, google him. He has a very impressive art style.
I had four pieces entered and accepted! Thrills, right? It got better. I had 2 pieces get Honorable Mention Awards. I was told that I was the only artist that had all of their entries accepted. There were 113 entries, 77 were accepted.
Now for the real thrill; a very dear friend attended the show and brought me a gift. She is a very talented young artist and I love her style. Thank you Jen .
We had our first robin in the yard today. I have heard them for the past week, this is the first one that spent some time in the yard. It sprinkled rain this afternoon, so I got some beading done. While taking a break I noticed this couple walking down my driveway. It is always good to see the mallards come back. I love spring.
Sorry about the blurry pics, taken through the screened window…I did not want to scare the ducks!
