Here he is, Dragon #2. He is blue.

Charlie’s Party for the Arts

We had a great evening at the “Party”. It was a fund raiser for  Fairbanks Arts . 25 artists were asked to make art using a donated paint brush. This evening all of the artwork was auctioned. I was very worried that nobody would bid on mine. Things were going great, lots of people, good food, beautiful art work in the “Bear Gallery”. When they got to my work I held my breath. 8 paddles were up before the bidding started! Woohoo! Lots of money for the Arts! What fun. Here are a few pics of the art that was available.

Here is a photo of the wonderful lady that purchased my piece.

Red Dragon

Pretty straight forward, this is a dragon, a Red Dragon !  I think I will bead a few more of these. I just have to draw them… Drawing is a challenge for me, beading seems to come naturally.dragon

Busy Beader

Wow !  This has been a busy few weeks. I have had the honor of being a Guest Artist , selected as 1 of 64 artists in a juried show and asked to do a fun charity art event.

A huge thanks to Dianne Renee’ Shilling for having me as the Guest Artist in her Studio/Gallery. I had a great time.

My piece “Ptarmigan Nights” made it into the 64 Parallel Art Show. It can be seen all this month in the Bear Gallery at Pioneer Park.

I finished my piece for the auction. They gave me a paint brush and told me to make it into whatever I my artsy heart desired! This will be auctioned at the FAA fundraiser, Charlie’s Party for the Arts. Nov. 12, 2015.

Entries for 64th Parallel Juried Exibit

These are my latest embroidery pieces. Been working on the ptarmigan piece for a month! I really am happy with it. I am going to enter them into a juried show for October. Stay tuned, I will post if  they get accepted. Wish me luck!"HAMSA"

Sewing Salmon Skins

I attended a wonderful workshop today. Joel Issak  was a great instructor, very patient and he really knows his salmon skins. He has made everything from vests and wallets to ladies high heels ! Fairbanks Arts Association hosted the class in Fairbanks. It was part of the Dena’ina Way of Living program sponsored by the Rasmusson Foundation.

I got a good start on a small project, skin needs to dry before I can finish. I have plenty of skin for a few more small projects.  We learned how to properly skin a salmon and cure the skin. We even got to bring home some wonderful silver salmon for dinner!

A Day at the Fair

It was a beautiful day to go to the Tanana Valley State Fair ! I was asked to be a judge for the Companions Inc. Pet Show. Of course I said yes! It is always a fun way to connect with kids and pets. Great people volunteer for a day of fun. We had a  nice turn-out of eager, talented and well informed contestants. There were three categories;  costume, trick/talent, and general knowledge.

After the show I got to go enjoy the food ,sites and sounds of the fair. Thanks Chelsea.

Evening Drive

We took a short drive out Chena Hot Springs Road. Stopped at Mile 44, North Fork of the Chena River for a few pictures.  We still have 17 hours of daylight so, the sun was out at 8:30 p.m. The hot springs resort looked busy, lots of tourist wandering around.

Alaska Day Trip

We went for a drive today.  Pictures were taken between Delta Jct. and Lower Darling Creek. Nice drive, not much smoke from the wildfires.
