I got a lot done over the last few days, finished the pines and added branches to the other trees. Filled in the edges and put some little touches here and there. I will sit it aside to make sure I am done while I decide on what type of beads to use for theContinue reading “I think I am finished…”

Winter Cabin update 1-11
I think we have reached the part of winter where I get antsy. I started beading the pine trees, got done with one and jumped to the door frame. The door needed more outline, it was really bugging me. Made a bare bush out of horsehair and beaded it into place under the pine trees. Continue reading “Winter Cabin update 1-11”
Bead embroidery update
Happy New Year! I have been working on the night sky of my new beadwork. I am almost done with the sky section and making my plans for the trees. I will be adding a layer to the trunks and sewing in the branches. The layered work is tricky, a lot of it is doneContinue reading “Bead embroidery update”
35 degrees
We have been having an odd winter in North Pole. Last night it was 35 degrees above zero, and raining. Yep, raining. The weather man says it will be above zero for the next week. This makes for poor road conditions but saves on the heating bill. I like that I can hide inside andContinue reading “35 degrees”
Still Beading
Turkey, stuffing, pie…. between cooking and eating I found some time to bead!
Progress on Winter Cabin
We have snow! I managed to get a little beading done between rounds of shoveling earlier this week. We got about 8 inches of new snow. So , I just had to add snow to the cabin roof. Working on the path today, more photos to come.
Bird Watching and Beading
I spent the day shoveling snow, watching birds come to the feeders and beading. All in all a perfect day.
Back to beading
The head swelling has abated. After having two pieces accepted in 64th Parallel, getting Honorable Mention for one of them, finding out that one of them was purchased and getting ready for my Artist of the Month show, I can now settle back into a routine of beading. I finally got around to making aContinue reading “Back to beading”
A Night of Surprise!
Tonight was the First Friday opening for the 64th Parallel Juried Exhibition. The show Juror, Emily Nachison had her work cut out for her. There were over 200 entries, only 64 are chosen for the show! I was pleased to find out that two of my pieces had been selected for the show. “Gold Dredge”Continue reading “A Night of Surprise!”
The Cabin is ready!
What a great summer project, I am pretty happy with this one. This is one of the larger pieces I have done, 13 in. x 9 in. I will be entering this in a juried show at the end of this month. I will update on how I do.
Update on The Cabin
Sky and clouds are done! Working on the second layer of pine trees, and the bush. Birch trees are next. Using size 15/0 for the pine trees, a mix of 15/0, 16/0 and 18/0s for the bush. I will probably use 20/0 for the birch leaves.
Rolling hills and mountains!
I have completed the hills and mountains, starting to bead the sky! I’m going with a summer blue, evening sky but…. check out this photo from our sky last night! I will probably use this for reference on another piece.
