MOOSE

I love that it is still daylight at 5 p.m. ! That means I can see things out my kitchen window while washing dishes. This evening I spotted 2 grouse hens in the big pine tree.  I got my camera and was waiting on this girl to show her head. As I was watching the grouse I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, oh yea, A nice young bull moose.  I took a few good/funny pics of him before he went around the side of the house.

As I was loading those pics onto the computer a large furry head passed the front window. Yep, there was mom moose!  Wow, she is a healthy girl.  She led the young guy around to the back of the house where I got this beautiful close-up. Thanks Ms. Moose.

This is why I love living here!

Follow Along Day 9

Finished!  I put in about 8 hours of beading today.  Trimming, backing and edging.  This is the last of 4 pieces I am doing for a March show.  I will post all of them on the day of the Show.

Thanks for following along,  deb

Follow Along Day 8

I completed  the main beading late last night, added some tassels tonight. I will trim, add backing and start the edging tomorrow.  For those asking about the size, it is a 5 inch circle.

Follow Along Day 7

Almost done with the main part, should be done tomorrow. Now to decide on my edging.

Follow Along Day 5

No beading yesterday, bummer.  I got a good bit done today.  This piece is filling in nicely. Enjoy.

Follow Along Day 4

I am pleased with how this is coming together. I put in 2 hours earlier today and 1 hour this evening.

Follow Along Day 3

I am using a mix of bead sizes in this piece, so placement is a little more time consuming than usual. but I love to use my tiny 22/0 beads.

Follow Along Day 2

This is 3 hours of beading.  I put down 3 beads at a time, go back through those beads, then lay a stitch between every-other bead to keep them in place. After I have finished a complete row around I go through each bead again.

I have been beading busy! Yes, beading busy.  I have a new show in Feb. just set up for that today. Will get pics up soon.  I also have 1 piece in an invitational show, and I am working on 4 pieces for a show in March. Whew.

I think now is a good time to start another follow along project.

The guest juror this year was Jovencio de la Paz.  He gave a very interesting lecture Monday night, after a long day in the Bear Gallery. Fairbanks area artist submitted over 200 entries.  I think we wowed him Fairbanks! I don’t know how he narrowed it down to 64 pieces for the show.  I am surprised and honored to have two of my Bead Art pieces chosen for the show.

Here are some of the accepted art works from the show. We had a fun evening seeing great friends, other artists and supporters of the arts! Thank you Fairbanks Arts Association .
