This is it, I’m happy with the colors and pattern. I will repeat this pattern to cover the blue felted area on the stick.
Well that did not go as planned! The original bead pattern, that I carefully drew on graph paper, is a failure. I got 3 rows of done, tried it out on the walking stick and decided ” I do not approve. ” So… after taking apart the offending beadwork I restarted sans pattern. I’m liking this ,only 4 rows in but I think it is a keeper.
Turned out to be a nice afternoon, went for a walk along the Chena River.
While clearing undergrowth last spring I decided this piece of Diamond Willow was perfect for a bead project. It has been stripped of it’s bark, dried, lightly sanded, and has 3 coats of mineral oil.
Now to start the beading. I drew a basic design on graph paper, picked out some of my favorite colors and wrapped a piece of felt on the stick to mark the area to be covered. I will be using 3-bead brick stitch. It is one of my favorite off loom stitches as it moves along quickly. This should be a fun project. I think should drill a hole for a hand strap, off to get my dremel!
WIP is now complete!! I found a great name, thanks to some ideas from readers.

This has been a fun project, thanks for following along. I already have the next project ready to start. I will begin gathering beads and trinkets tonight. The plan is to photograph the whole process this time. Again, Thank You!
I have attached a clasp to my WIP. I still need to decide if I will add fringe. This neckpiece also needs a name, any ideas?
